Job Description for 
Summer 2015

Summary:
Pee Dee Land Trust, a 501c3 nonprofit organization based in Florence, SC, seeks an intern for summer 2015 on a part-time basis.  The ideal candidate will be a college or graduate student who has returned home for the summer and who is interested in one or more of the following fields:  conservation, nature, agriculture, history, biology/ecology, land use and planning.  However, interest in these subjects is not a prerequisite.

Scheduling and Hours
The position will be part-time, working approximately 15-20 hours per week.  Scheduling is flexible as per the Executive Director.

Job responsibilities and atmosphere:
The internship will feature a variety of tasks, ranging from substantive to administrative.  PDLT is looking for an energetic, team-player who is adaptable to our small, hands-on, nonprofit atmosphere. 

The range of tasks may include, depending upon intern’s skill level and interests:  planning and assistance at organizational events;  database entry; assistance with board meeting preparation; accompanying staff on property visits/monitoring; drafting of correspondence and articles; assistance with grant research and grant writing; light general office work; participation in meetings on and off site; research; updating the website for the organization; and more.

Requirements:
Basic working knowledge of Windows programs a must, as well as Internet proficiency.  Must be organized, timely, dependable, and willing to take initiative.  This job is a great way to learn about nonprofit management, to learn more about conservation issues, to learn more about the cultural and natural landscape of the Pee Dee Region, and to hone research and computer skills.

Other:
Intern must furnish his or her own transportation, and some travel may be required to attend meetings or event.  Reimbursement for mileage will not be provided except on a case by case basis and, under such circumstance, at the federal rate.  Office space and a computer, etc. will be provided during the intern’s work time.
